Floating shelves: lag screws
We used them for floating shelves. We drilled the studs, drove the joist about halfway, cut off the joist heads, pressed the halved 6x6 cedar board against the screw leaving the dent, drilled a hole, and slid the shelves over the screws. The process was relatively easy and quick.
