The ties are slightly shorter and narrower than regular ties (although they don't look anything like narrow ties). They are about 1-1.5 inches shorter than a standard tie (I used my various Michael Kors, DKNY, Nautica, Tommy Hilfiger, and Jones New York ties for comparison). The material is thick enough to tie a good knot. If you are working with a knot where you usually want the thick end to be about twice the length of the thin end, you will need to give the thick end about 1 to 1.5 inches more than usual. But the length is enough for the job.
