We had to replace the step stool used in the kitchen because after replacing the stacked washer and dryer we had to move the trash can to where the step ladder was. So I needed a compact folding stool that would fit next to my fridge. I first bought a four step stool which I thought would also replace our 4 foot ladder. It fits and serves its purpose great, but it's very heavy and I don't want to take it out every time I need something on the top shelf in the kitchen. So I went in search of a two-tiered stool. I prefer black because our counters and cabinets are dark. I also wanted a chair with a crossbar to help with my balance. The bar of this stool is curved and padded so I think it could also be used as extra seating although I haven't tried that. While the stool doesn't fold as flat as the others due to the curved pole, it certainly fits perfectly in the space I have next to my fridge. The steps of the chair are very wide and the chair is very stable. The top step is 18 inches high, four inches higher than my old stool, allowing me to reach higher shelves than before. At 5ft 1in I often use a stool! However, the chair is a bit heavier than I thought. So this one is perfect for me!
