We're planning a house party and I wanted to install LEDs in the kitchen. I wanted to install four amps and after setting them up my LEDs often wouldn't light up or skipped color when spinning. So we tested the LEDs by connecting them without an amplifier and all colors worked. It turned out that all but one of the devices didn't have the red, green, blue, and power wires stripped far enough to receive a signal to light up the LED colors or the power supply at all. We had to remove them ourselves and if it wasn't for some electrical knowledge we would have had to send them back and the project would have been ruined. So unless you like fiddling with little wires, stripping them, or wondering why a product isn't working within 4 hours, do your research beforehand. The amps worked fine after we removed and reinstalled the LEDs.
