Review on πŸ–οΈ Primary Set of 5 Soft Pastel Crayons by Marabu: Ideal for Fine Art and Mixed Media by Erin Lowe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Almost identical to Kingart pencils, but three times as expensive

These Marabu colored pencils are soft, creamy and highly pigmented. They mix well with water and I like to use them in mixed media. The problem is that they are almost identical to my Kingart Mixed Media Gelsticks. Same body, same creamy consistency, same mixability, same amount of product, same pigmentation. But these marabou sticks are around $2.75-$3.00 each, while Kingart sticks are around $0.80 each. Marabu Sticks are not worth the price difference at all. Also - and that's maybe just me - but the Marabu Sticks come in a plastic blister pack and then they are all individually shrink-wrapped. Not only do you have to open each stick in turn and remove the plastic, it's also very wasteful. No thank you!

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • A few little things
