So far so good it's been 1 month for one and 2 weeks for the second and so far they seem to be working fine. The timer and dimmability are a great feature and I love that I don't have to move the light every time I need to open the lid for feeding and water changes. I have them in 10 gallon (15 per model) and 20 long (18 per model) both with live plants and both seem good. I like being able to dim them (you can dim the white and blue separately for different light combos and looks) as this can help control the algae and the timers work well in 8, 10 or 12 hour increments . Not sure how good they will be for plants in a deeper tank? But for the money I would give them a try as you can always dunk them below the surface if you need them closer to the plants, just make sure they are plugged into an outlet or GFCI adapter (the Oaonan GFCI Replacement adapter seems to work). well connected to the extension cord).
