I wear a size 8 hat. Size 7 7/8 is a bit tight but if my hair is cut short enough I can wear it. I'm having trouble finding a hat that fits. Cannot be found in the shop, only online. I found out that military hats come in size 8, so I have several military hats. I wanted a more comfortable, nicer hat. Both tags showed me 3XL. It fits perfectly. It's much better than military hats. I wore it the other day while looking for fossils outdoors on a hot summer day in central Texas. It protected well from the sun and, being ventilated, didn't get too hot. The upper is made of mesh, so sunlight can seep through some of them, although it will be less. The flap at the neck can be folded into a hat if you want the bodice to cover more than the neck. I have enough hair on top of my head at the moment, so I wore it with a collar around my neck. I think it looks nice too! Not pretty for a runway, but nice for a nerdy dad. The only negative was that it had a strange smell after opening. There was a factory, plastic, smell. I hung the hat in my garden for about a day and the smell was gone. Now that I know I like the hat, I'll probably buy another color as well.
