These bags are made from a very thin film, but as long as you're not throwing heavy, sharp objects in the trash they should hold up very well. 7 to 10 gallons, but they fit my 5 gallon Sterilite plastic trash can with about 5 inches left to drape the rim around the can. They wouldn't fit in larger trash cans if the loose ends didn't fall into the trash cans when filled with trash. My 5 gallon jars have pop top lids so these lids keep the bags in place. For my slightly larger jars (Sterilite 1000N, not sure of their capacity) I attached clips to the necks of the jars to prevent the mouth of the bag from falling in. The pictures show a large wastepaper basket with and without clips. .
