There is a slight bumper edge to lift the screen off a flat surface which also aids in holding, but also makes it thicker in the hand. Easy to put on and remove. Although there is a dull matt finish, compared to a silicone rubber case, the coated hard shell is somewhat slipperier than I expected, but not as slippery as a plastic shell case.
