Our home is far from a cell phone tower and as a result we have a weak signal and often lose or miss calls. We bought a version of this product with two (internal) antennas to provide coverage at both ends of the house. Since we have a relatively long one story house, I planned to place an outdoor antenna on the roof and one at each end of the house. I had to change my plan as soon as I read the manual as the indoor antennas cannot face each other and must be placed 20ft from the outdoor antennas and the recommended vertical spacing is 13ft. That wouldn't work in my one story house, so I placed the antennas in the attic as far down from the outside antenna as possible. I was able to attach an external antenna to a PVC pipe (see photo) and point it at the nearest cell tower using the free Open Signal app for iPhone. There was no additional information on the Solid RF site, so it was useless. But it was all good in the end because there are indicators on the amplifier that tell you if the antenna is in the way: it's not. We now have 2.5 bars throughout the house and garage, even in the entryway.
