Review on Gibson GP316S Stainless Performance Header by Robert Buenconsejo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good product, Exact Fit 04 Ram 1500 4.7L

Overall I am happy with these manifolds. I had a problem with the screws that came with it, but the seller responded immediately and sent a new package of screws in time for installation. Otherwise the kit includes gaskets, screws and heat shields. I was lucky that we installed them with a new engine from the truck before we changed the engine. No broken joints! A few notes: Screws: Even the replacement screws seemed to be about 1/4 inch short. This is important when installing them in aluminum heads. You want maximum thread contact in the head so you can tighten the bolts securely without damaging the holes. While the manifolds are made of stainless steel, the screws are coated (zinc or chrome?) as standard. I live on the coast so we'll see how well they stand up to the heat and salty air. In addition, there were 4 longer, incorrectly adjusted screws in the spare bag. Not sure what they are for, maybe an exhaust pipe flange connection? Instructions: Usually helpful. The images are grainy, as if they are copies of copies. Suggest they invest in a good laser printer or donate their literature. Torque info would be helpful, but with foogle (or whatever search engine you use) it's just a few clicks away. Other: Make sure you buy the best high temperature sealant you can find. Also, have a good torque wrench and a variety of wrenches, sockets, and extensions handy. Some bolts can ONLY be tightened with a wrench after performing acrobatic finger maneuvers due to the tube configuration. Be patient. I'll comment on the sound and performance once we're done installing the motor.

Pros
  • Bolt on replacement, no welding required, uses OEM connections
Cons
