First of all I have to say that I don't use these blocks as play mats. I use them as locking boards for my knitting. If you are looking for these as blocking mats they work great. They are durable, and while easy to apply, they hold up very well to repeated use. They snap together easily and are easy to fold and store away when not in use. One of the most important characteristics of their use as barrier mats is that they do not stain. I blocked the whites and the color didn't transfer from the mats to the knit. I think they would be great for their intended use as they are durable and can withstand frequent assembly and disassembly.
