I rarely change earrings and I find earrings that get pretty ugly over time, but it's difficult to find small hoop earrings in stores that are easy to put on. I usually go to Claire's and they were difficult to fit without making new tunnels, almost impossible to fit once (the type to put in a loop) and they wouldn't stay in the loop. They are attractive, inexpensive, quick to insert, snap firmly and lie well on the pillow. They're not as thin as some reviews led me to believe and seem to be quite durable. All requirements are met!
