Bought these as a Christmas present for a 6 year old boy who loves to play in the garden with neighbor friends. I can imagine them playing with it for HOURS. These aren't the fanciest available, but they're great for kids because they'll snap soon. They sound very clean and have bizarre flares that are actually pretty damn bright. The battery compartment is *very* narrow, and I managed to fit all 4 AAA batteries in, but once in, they're firmly in place. Both devices have a removable belt clip on the back that needs to be removed to access the battery compartment. I see that the belt clips break very easily, but that's a nice feature too. I took them out of the box before gift wrapping them so I could test them and make sure they were ready to use. As soon as they opened and I have to admit I was really impressed with the quality.
