The ink on the ribbon was fine. However, on my particular Olivetti Lettera 22, these spools did not allow the nut (original for that machine) to be tightened enough to prevent the nut from touching the underside of the belt cover when it was in place. Therefore, the spool often rotated with difficulty. Without the tape cover, the new coils worked fine. So I had to take the new tape off and put it on my old reels. On my old coils, the nut was tighter so the nut didn't scratch or grind under the tape cover. It could be my special Olivetti. This may work well on other Lettera 22.
