If it makes sense they're more like water shoes - they literally conform to the figure and the sole seems thin and flexible. It has a tread on the outsole, but there really isn't much cushioning between the sole of the foot and the surface you're walking on. I mean, when you step on a rock, your foot FEEL that rock, not like it's too big under your feet, but like a rock touching your bare foot! I'm not saying these are bad shoes, but you should understand what they are and expect them to perform as intended. I like to wear them barefoot, but of course I would avoid very rough surfaces, these shoes are not made for that. If you must wear "full shoes" (no open toes, no sandals, etc.) when working on a fairly flat, smooth surface, you might want to try these. I am happy with them!
