Replaced original brackets on my X5. I realized it was necessary when the tailgate didn't fall very gently on my head while unloading groceries. But that's about the original props; They didn't fail me, or rather the sunroof or the hood. They are much stronger than the original props after decades of use. They hold their position as they should. Replacing is a simple process but should be done individually and with a helper holding the hood or sunroof open. It took about five minutes to replace the first one, and then a few minutes for each additional prop, and that's without a friend to hold things open.
