I bought this USB cable to replace the standard Galaxy S8 fast charge cable that came with my phone. The product description clearly states that the cable supports S8 and S8+. However, upon receipt, none of the fast charging cables worked. Also, both cables had some interesting properties that indicated a serious design flaw. For reference, I tested both the standard Samsung power adapter and the Revain Basics power adapter, both support fast charging and work great with other USB cables. First, the cables behave differently depending on which direction the Type-C connector is inserted. Since the main advantage of Type-C connectors is that they can be used in all directions, this was alarming. When inserted in one direction, the phone will charge normally (4-5 hours from 10% to 100%). When the Type-C connector was swapped, the phone charged slowly (10 hours to go from 10% to 100%). Secondly, even with normal charging, the charging process would sometimes change from normal to slow if the cable was rolled up and not stretched into a long line. I contacted the seller directly and he confirmed that the cables support S8+ fast charging and said that the cables were faulty and that they would send a replacement and give me a tracking number within 2-3 days. It's been five days and I still haven't received a tracking number. I contacted the seller again and they eventually sent a replacement. Both replacement cables showed exactly the same behavior. None of them could fast charge my Galaxy S8+. This is clearly a design flaw as there is virtually no chance of four different cables showing the same flaw.
