Review on Optoma BM-5001U Low Profile Black Projector Ceiling Mount for Optoma by Antonio Urbina

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits my Optoma projector although the mounting could be better

This mount is exactly what I wanted for my projector. I like the low profile design as it was designed for my basement which doesn't have very high ceilings and feels very solid. It's pretty easy to set up all the angles and positions so you don't have to worry too much about getting everything just right as it's so easy to make post-installation adjustments. The mount itself is manufactured by Peerless and renamed the Optoma. The installation itself was pretty easy. Took me about 45 minutes but I believe others should take much less time. Literally about 35-40 of those minutes of installation I just read the instructions and tried to figure out what I needed to do. This is because the user guide lists at least 10 different ways to install it, depending on which model of your Optoma projector you have. I used it with an Optoma HD131Xe, the latest model not listed in the manual. Because of this, I had to guess which installation method to use. I ended up guessing wrong, which didn't really matter. The main difference between most configurations is what size screws and washers to use and where on the universal plate to place the screws (there are many holes to fit the many screw mount models on projector models). Now that I know what I'm doing, a fresh install from scratch would take literally 5-10 minutes. Note to anyone using this with the HD131Xe: I used the initial installation instructions in the manual and it all worked out in the end, except for you I will end up using the smallest screws to attach the plate to the projector and thinner washers than into the image until the screw fully engages the threads on the projector itself. Note for those who haven't already. chose the projector: I recommend the HD131Xe if your budget is less than a thousand. Sure, there are better projectors in the $1,500-$2,000 price range, but this one is a very good value at half the price and even comes with a 50 Amazon credit at the time of purchase US dollars was delivered. I also like that it's black instead of white, so the mount goes really well with it. Pros: - Great compatibility with many Optoma projectors - Reliable, durable and easy to adjust - Low profile perfect for low ceilings like mine - Black mount is perfect for my HD131XeCons: - Instructions need updating; newer Optoma models are not listed there (although they are still compatible) - the price is much higher than mounts from other manufacturers.
