Noise cancellation is a minor downside of these excellent headphones. It functions well on its own, but while you are driving a car or using public transportation, it recognizes voice and, in addition, music as well, and lowers the level of noise suppression. Although it might be useful to someone, I found this function to be inconvenient. Yet, occasionally it misinterprets wind patterns for speech and lowers the level of noise reduction. There is a fun Mi Buds M8 application for controlling the headphones. It has several levels of noise cancellation that you may customize, but no matter whatever setting you choose, the headphones will still be able to hear speech.
