I had the exact same make and model installed in 3 different homes. The high-quality workmanship withstands repeated use, weather and cats have always adapted very well to this model. There are vinyl drop down doors and I had those too. However, they are more difficult to keep clean as the "oil" drips from the cats as they pass through the tunnel. They start to age and fade much faster than this one. A few wipes with a damp cloth are enough to give the doors a new look. Models with vinyl shutters also do not hang properly over time due to deformation, allowing outside air to enter the home. This door is nice and heavy (enough) that the only air leakage is around the fluffy hairs that line the door. Gently wash them regularly and the fluff will last longer and save on supplies. I have the approval of over a dozen cats, all of whom have enjoyed using it. Some are already gone, but never forgotten.
