Review on πŸ”΄ Hoover UH72630 WindTunnel 3 High Performance Pet Bagless Corded Upright Vacuum Cleaner, Red by Corey Moulton

Revainrating 3 out of 5

A mix of good and bad. Can't find a 5 star machine in this price range(?)

This is the second Hoover wind tunnel I've owned. The first lasted about 4 years and seems to have about the same strengths and weaknesses as this version 3. Version 2 still works, but the wheel mounts are so worn and broken that they're not worth fixing. I find the $100 to $150 price range for a vacuum that suits my needs. (Over the years I've had a few expensive machines like the Dyson Animal which lasted 5 years. It was a good car but for the price I expected more. I won't compare Dyson to Hoover here.) I've also owned several other makes and models in the $69-$100 price range including Bissell and Dirt Devil, but Windtunnel beats them. This version 3 sucks pet hair and dust very well. The suction power is great - in one of my rooms it sucks up floating floorboards in addition to all the visible dirt and occasionally gets stuck if I'm not careful. Suction followed by airflow and dirt removal is obviously the most important thing for a vacuum cleaner and I think the engineering behind the motor, bagless container and nozzle is very good. This machine has proven effective in removing dust and hair from floors. I have solid wood in every room except one bedroom. However, there are some inconveniences. While the machine removes dirt very well, the attachments simply WILL NOT stay in their respective docking clips and holders. In normal use, when the car is pushed and pushed, they fall out, which is very annoying. As a workaround, I left the rotating brush in the closet. I wonder why this woefully inadequate design made it back into version 3. Also, the headlight is an awfully wide beam with the faintest yellow bulb imaginable; it is ineffective under all lighting conditions. It's 2018 - use LEDs! LEDs are very cheap and very bright; There is no conceivable explanation for such a design flaw. The wheel mount design is identical to version 2 and does not inspire confidence - they are flimsy and will sag and fail over time, allowing the car to only be pulled, not pushed. I was very disappointed that version 3 of the cable, while handy in a sense, is not self-retracting! This is one of the best features of version 2, removed in favor of the longer 40ft version instead of the old 25ft version. You have to be careful with the new cable, otherwise it will quickly become tangled. However, if I pay attention, I will find that I can fully reach all ends of each floor in my house from a single outlet on each floor. As an average sized man, I find the weight acceptable. Unlike the other reviewer, I have no problem carrying it by the canister handle. As other reviewers have noted, the motor generates heat. This is to be expected from a 12 amp motor as power is always converted to heat - there really is no getting around that and the amount of heat generated is acceptable. (Think 12 amps x 120 volts = 1440 watts. It's like squeezing some kind of electric heater.) Pros: Good quality Excellent suction Easy to drain Long cord Cons: Nozzles don't stay attached to their poorly designed retention clips - a lot frustrating. Farah is completely useless in all cases. Light conditions No self-retracting cable; leads to unruly knot chaos. The same old wheel design is still bad and will break
