These inexpensive thermal pads seem to reduce the peak temperatures of NVMe and M.2 SATA SSDs well if you have a decent heatsink and airflow. You get a variety of thicknesses (1mm is most convenient) and these are perfect for m.2 2280 SSDs, although you can cut them smaller if needed. BUT don't expect them to hold your heatsink in place - they are lubricated and not sticky enough to hold your heatsink. They're just meant to transfer heat rather than using thermal paste. Their transmission efficiency is sufficient for most small SSDs. However, they alone do NOTHING to reduce heat without a heatsink.
