The glass is almost the same size and shape as the iPhone XR display. It would be very difficult to place it in the right place, which is why you see so many of these products now with alignment templates. The Spigen system is characterized by the fact that the glass is packaged together with the template as a unit. You only get 2 (as opposed to 3 or 4 on other cheaper products but I think it's worth it for ease of installation. You'll almost certainly have a second one for another phone rather than fixing a bad installation. The first step is to make sure the screen is clean and they include a typical cleaning cloth to help.I put mine on the phone after taking it out of the box.You peel off the plastic layer that holds the adhesive on the phone side of the glass (inside the plastic template and marked with a big 1) Just make sure it is in the right direction UP Carefully place the whole assembly onto the phone and press evenly around the edges, so it touches the phone's screen big number 2 in the middle with a slot in the plastic and you slide your finger over it once or twice r the slit to ensure the lens is properly seated. The instruction on this part says to wait 30 seconds (for the glue to soak in. Bond well). You then remove #2, which essentially releases the plastic stencil from the protective film and removes the stencil. Step #3 is to remove the plastic protecting the front (non-adhesive side) of the glass and that's it. I suspect other systems where you place the glass in the jig will probably work well too, but with this one you don't have to touch the glass with possibly dirty fingers at all during installation, so there's very little chance of any of yours Fingers will mess up the installation.
