Review on 🖤 8 oz Jar of Jacquard Acid Dye for Wool, Silk, and Protein Fibers - Concentrated Powder in Jet Black 639 Shade by Karla Richter

Tried to make linen napkins for a friend. I have never used this product before but the instructions seemed simple. However, it doesn't tell you how much to use per gallon of water. He simply says put some dye in water with some citric acid and boil the fabric for 30 minutes. Good. THAT DOES NOT WORK. I made some fabric testers, 12 pieces of 12" x 12" canvas. I used a large enamel pot, about 5 gallons of water, 2-3 ounces of 8 ounce dye (nearly 1/2 container), a couple ounces of powdered citric acid that I have found in other dye products. I was given hot water almost boiling as the instructions say and then turned it off to let it boil. LEAVE IT ON THE STOVE FOR THE FULL 8 HOURS while I was at work. I ended up at BROWN Linen Napkin Testers. CHOCOLATE BROWN. NOT EVEN BLACK, although the wooden spoon I used to mix the paint was colored black very nicely. Why wasn't the fabric dyed black? I'll never know, but I definitely won't trust this dye anymore. I don't use cotton, almost all my white/beige fabrics are linen. They're both made of cellulosic fibers, shouldn't matter much. Conclusion: THIS WILL NOT DYE THE FABRIC BLACK. Even after EIGHT HOURS OF ENTERING THE DYES.
