I'd probably really rate this 3-3.5 stars, but decided to round up. The functionality is what I expected based on the Tuya SmartLife platform and works as expected. Ignore whatever other app they might say to use (I didn't bother looking) and just start with SmartLife.My reason for the 3-4 star range is really related to the quality of the LEDs used in the strip. They say they're 5050s and they do appear square, but don't look as big as I'm used to. I'm willing to say that's an optical illusion and due to the silicone waterproof coating (the only reason I didn't go to 3 stars) but they still looked small to me. However the main problem is simply the color blend quality of the LEDs which is pretty low. I'm used to seeing a bit of rainbow effect from the edges of the packages, but when I go full white I like to be able to look at the LED and see white, not noticeably separate RGB. Unfortunately that's not the case for these. There's significant visible color separation. They're nice and bright for straight red, green, or blue, but for any other color mix or full white, they're quite disappointing. Probably ok for a backlit application where the light will have to bounce off another surface and mix before you see it, but certainly not for directly visible LEDs.
