Review on Walker 53051 Intermediate Pipe by Doug Hawkins

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Something is wrong, but still cheap, quick, easy and quiet.

Jetta '97. I successfully attached this pipe to my old cat after cleaning and sanding down the rust flakes that were on the old pipe. I used two zip ties on each joint because I noticed leaks after installing with a zip tie. Clamps at the back of this tube rest on a small support piece that holds the body together at the midline. I had to grind the bolts on the jam nuts. This causes it to occasionally rattle at certain combinations of engine RPM and body position on a hill or whatever. I could grind up some nuts and probably stop it entirely. Parts were cheap, installation was easy, and again the machine is quiet, so all good. I haven't had a belt rust in the winter yet to assess durability.
