I bought these for an outdoor fountain. The first of four was defective. The next two worked great illuminating the fountain at night. However, flashlights have two drawbacks that discourage anyone from using them regularly (and not just on special occasions). First, there is no way to set a timer on the remote (e.g. turn on 2 hours, 4 hours, etc.) so at the end of the night I have to go out into the yard and stand over the fountain to turn it on. out. The lack of an on/off timer makes it difficult to use as part of a lighting routine. Second, and more importantly, the remote doesn't actually turn off the light. It will stop whatever color you choose and go out for a few seconds, and then the pucks will start flashing. The second morning after returning to the fountain, I noticed that they were blinking because they weren't actually turning off. This can be great if you have an event planned and end up being able to remove the pucks as well as unscrew and remove the batteries. For those who plan to use them daily, the inability to turn them off with the remote when submerged in water is a deal breaker.
