Let's face it, nobody NEEDS cookware. They're bulkier than household spoons and can perhaps be viewed as over-the-top single-tasking devices. However, there's a lot to be said for having the right tool for the job, and these shovels allow you to quickly scoop up batter and batter. Cookies and muffins come out perfectly smooth, with no overcooking or undercooking due to uneven portion distribution. If you find yourself picking up the same portions over and over again with regular utensils, consider using the right-sized plate. Even measuring spoons and cups tend to be sloppy and inconsistent compared to a harness with this type of trigger mechanism. At least they take care of the tedious filling of cupcake molds or the portioning of biscuits, so that you can get to all the important baking steps faster. I chose this dish because it is made entirely of stainless steel and has relatively large handles. The large, smooth handles are comfortable to hold, even after preparing dozens of cupcakes. This is the beauty of ergonomics in action. Narrow handles and thumb buttons can strain your hands and fingers. Larger grips require less pressure, which in turn is easier on the hands. The release handle also makes them suitable for left-handers, while thumb releases are mostly reserved for right-handers. I am still suffering excruciating joint pain 3 months into my recovery from COVID-19 and this (and my blender) allows me to take my mind off the pain of baking. They clean well by hand, although I imagine they need to soak for 5 or 10 minutes if the particularly sticky substances in the nooks and crannies of the mechanism are allowed to dry. I just dip mine in a bowl or measuring cup of hot, soapy water after doing this with a scoop. A quick wipe and rinse is all it takes to finish the rest of the casserole dish. It's too early to judge their durability, although I hope so. They have good, reliable action with no unnecessary wobble or tension. I assume these plates will last as long as my cast iron pans. Should they suddenly fail due to mechanical failure in the future, I will update this review accordingly, but without holding my breath.
