After purchasing my first pair of good ears, I was content for a while—about a year—until I lowered the high frequencies. Even if they hadn't broken, I would now rate them at 3–4. After having extended the warranty, the right one eventually broke, so I went and changed it. After six months, I started to feel quieter and quieter; eventually, I came dangerously close to passing out, so I looked at the guarantee, which ended a week later. The identical ones were purchased by my girlfriend; while they haven't yet broken her, she listens considerably less frequently. P.S. I've seen more than one review claiming that this happens frequently and that people have tried to scoop off some oil from there and dry it apart without success.
