Affordable Decent CPU Cooler (Foldable at Home)

Before I got this cooler, I was using the stock cooler that came with my Ryzen 3600. I didn't use overclocking so it worked well in games. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, I learned that I could donate my computing power to the Folding@home project, which will use computing resources for COVID-19 research. Unfortunately, the stock AMD cooler was unable to keep my CPU cool while this program was running. Even when I set the folding program to only use "light" resources, my CPU temperatures were between 90 and 100 degrees Celsius, even with all fans set to maximum. Unfortunately, my case doesn't support water cooling, and I don't think the Noctua D15 fits in there. I chose the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition because it had four heat pipes and was under $40. Overall, the installation isn't that bad until you install the fans on the heatsink. These fan mounts are very easy to insert into the case as the holes on the fans are much larger than the diameter of the mount. Aligning the fan mounts with the grooves on the heatsink was also difficult, especially when working in a cramped computer case. Once the fans were on the radiator, everything went fine. My motherboard and case have plenty of room for RAM, but yours might not. I also appreciated that the included fan cable included a fan header splitter for an optional second fan, which I used since I had a second 120mm fan. If you don't want that, you don't have to resort to Cooler Master fans. I used an arctic fan for the second fan because I had it lying around and it works great. After installing the cooler, I started Folding@home and was happy with the temperatures now achieved. Even when the program was instructed to use full power, this CoolerMaster cooler was able to keep the CPU temperature between 70 and 80 ยฐC. I ran the program for over 30 minutes and the maximum temperature I get is 77C. I didn't do it. Do not enable overclocking in the bios, but the processor will be overclocked to 3.9 GHz. I also have my CPU and case fans set to maximum but this CPU cooler is still very quiet. In summary, for the price and size, this is a great CPU cooler, but don't expect easy installation.
