Worth more than its price. New installers BE CAREFUL.

First: i5-8400 processor, z370-f motherboard, 2x8gb ddr4 2133hz in dual channel mode, gtx 1070 in NZXT s340 elite mid-tower case. First I had a Corsair H100i v2. When idling at low 20s and at 100% CPU load, temperatures hit the mid to high 40s. I sacrificed the setting when I stopped gaming for a bit and when I wanted to recover I went with the CM MasterAir g100m cheap. Nice decent idle at high 30 and at 100% load the temperature can drop to 70 degrees Celsius. Wanted to upgrade the Viper…

Pros
  • I like everything so far
Cons
  • There are shortcomings

A big step back

I've had several Cooler Master CPU coolers over the years including some of the infamous GeminII (GIANT, not smaller, more modern) . The Hyper 212 was an excellent design, so much so that every system I've built for the past three years has had one, and I've even bought cases specifically for it. So when it came time to create a system with more aesthetics, I really wanted to try this slimmer black version. Conclusion - complete disappointment; CM broke so many great things about 212 and I…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Amazingly efficient, affordable air cooler

When used in an 8-core AMD FX-8300 processor, temperatures are typically below 30°C. Pretty quiet. 4 heatpipes dissipate the CPU heat well. The Silencio fan included in the kit is a bit thick, there wasn't enough space between the cooler and the memory chips to install it. I had to put it on the other side. The fan is a high static pressure fan, but not very quiet. (This is _not_ Noctua). I'll probably swap the fan for a Noctua. In particular, the fasteners for the fans were difficult to…

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Everything is great

PITA mounting system, works well after a headache

Honestly, I build a lot of machines. This has to be the most annoying mounting system I've ever seen. AIO water blocks are a country mile easier to install than this thing. Discover the directions first and delve into their intricacies. Then take out the bags with the unmarked parts and try to match them according to the given instructions. There's more than you need, no matter what type of nest you have. Spend 20 minutes figuring out which pieces go where, and then repeat if you find the pin…

Pros
  • Smart anti-lock fan sensor: never worry about your cables getting tangled or your components breaking again
Cons
  • Nothing

Legendary Cooler

8700k (overclocked), 10600k (stock) and above. The 212 used to be a great cooler to pair with legendary CPUs like 2600k, 4690k etc. However, I tried pairing a stock i9-9900k with Mugen 5 and running the CPU at 100% CPU utilization. Prices will go up in the 90s until the TB feature stops. The CPU runs at 3.6GHz and the CPU power consumption drops to around 95W. It's funny how it works. The 9900k performed much better with my EVGA 280clc with the fans on and it runs at least from 4.5GHz to 4.7GHz

Pros
  • Snap and Play: Intuitive fan bracket design makes fan replacement and removal easy
Cons
  • Slightly Crumpled

Affordable Decent CPU Cooler (Foldable at Home)

Before I got this cooler, I was using the stock cooler that came with my Ryzen 3600. I didn't use overclocking so it worked well in games. When the COVID-19 pandemic started, I learned that I could donate my computing power to the Folding@home project, which will use computing resources for COVID-19 research. Unfortunately, the stock AMD cooler was unable to keep my CPU cool while this program was running. Even when I set the folding program to only use "light" resources, my CPU temperatures…
