Worth more than its price. New installers BE CAREFUL.

First: i5-8400 processor, z370-f motherboard, 2x8gb ddr4 2133hz in dual channel mode, gtx 1070 in NZXT s340 elite mid-tower case. First I had a Corsair H100i v2. When idling at low 20s and at 100% CPU load, temperatures hit the mid to high 40s. I sacrificed the setting when I stopped gaming for a bit and when I wanted to recover I went with the CM MasterAir g100m cheap. Nice decent idle at high 30 and at 100% load the temperature can drop to 70 degrees Celsius. Wanted to upgrade the Viper Patriot joystick to a second joystick and found the g100m had blocked the dual channel setup (40mm sticks spaced 35mm from the g100m). Wanted this dual channel option so upgraded the cooler to it. Replaced the original fan (used for the rear case exhaust) with 2 Corsair ml120 resulting in a total CPU cooler of 59.99. Idle in the mid 20s and at 100% CPU usage for about 3 minutes the maximum was 51 degrees Celsius but the average was 47-48. Basically $130 for a 9% increase in cooling versus a $60 setup for 9% less cooling. This is a win-win option well worth the money spent. Installation was easy enough, just one word of advice: HAND TIGHTEN THE REAR BRACKETS. DO NOT use the included Phillips head to tighten as you will DAMAGE the motherboard. I've done enough mechanical work to be consciously prepared, but if this was my first build of a computer or light hardware I'd break my phone. So please be careful when installing, it doesn't have a support like other mounts, this one clips onto the board itself.

Pros
  • I like everything so far
Cons
  • There are shortcomings
