Review on K N PF 1100 Fuel Filter by Adam Rogers

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Fits 2000-2004 Xterras, but installation can be difficult if never modified before.

PF-1100 Great for 2000-2004 Nissan (Bottom Mount) Xterras and Frontiers but please DO NOT underestimate the installation time if the filter has never been changed and your vehicle has over 150,000 miles on it. That. Installation takes longer than you think. Nissan engineers put (what I call it) a bezel in front of the filter on the underside of the passenger side that you have to remove first with a 10mm ratchet. Expect to use several cans of PB Blaster before attempting to remove them. After removing, pull the fuel fuse under the dash to the left of the wheel (after starting and starting the car/truck) to drain the fuel as much as possible. You will need to jack up your car/truck on the passenger side so you have some working space and support the jack with at least one stand. Then, if possible, loosen the Phillips clamps on the incoming and outgoing fuel lines. If necessary, "CUT" the outgoing line to disconnect it. Connecting the incoming line is usually easier and cutting it off can be a problem due to the very short length and remote attachment. Replace these cross clamps with small standard hex/pan head clamps for easier installation. With the old filter removed, use the PB Blaster to loosen the large center clip on the filter to free it. Remove the old filter and replace it with a new one in the right direction. Tighten the large center clamp, but not too tight, so you can twist it onto the new filter so it sits properly on the bezel. Mount and tighten hose clamps. Finally, reinstall the front panel (lubricate the screw threads) and replace the fuel fuse.
