I bought this to teach my rottweiler not to chase chickens, horses and when my husband is on a tractor. If you know anything about Rotts, they are very strong willed. I started with vibration but had to move on to shock. I was a bit apprehensive about using the shock button, but everything I read suggested it didn't hurt the dog. I also asked my neighbors. Let me tell you all that, I'm very happy with the results. All I have to say is "No" and he obeys my command and comes over and sits next to me. I will follow the training recommendations, be very consistent and reward the puppy if he/she obeys.
