This is the original "workhorse" walkie-talkie that the baofengs have based a slew of other models off of; some have more power, some have longer ranges, but the original type is still widely used today. A cover is necessary because it lacks the typical protection against moisture. Many add-ons are available, some of which convert the device into a stationary car radio. A unique cable allows for remote programming from a personal computer (sold separately). The "glass" receives power via the network, however batteries and glasses with USB charging are also available.
