Review on πŸ’Ύ Transcend 256GB JetDrive Lite 330: Expand MacBook Pro Retina Storage by Debbie Jones

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works as it should and with no failures. You MUST make sure you use the manual to get the correct size.

I've been using my MacBook Pro (Retina 13" Early 2015) continuously for 2.5 months now. It fits snugly on the rim so I don't have to worry about it getting bumped or messed up. There were times when it seemed like it would "eject unexpectedly," but not often, and it might just be a Mac. It seems to keep popping up, so I didn't have to take it out and put it back in (or remount it in Disk Utilities). It can be a little tricky to get out, but it has little flanges to stick your nails in to get started. But that's the intended design - you don't want it to come out without effort! Be sure to use the guide pictured in its description to select the correct expansion card. Otherwise, you could end up with one that's too short for your Mac model and won't mount or plug into the ports; or it might be too big and dangling, which might be fine, but you run the risk of getting it wrong if it unexpectedly hits or pops out. You can find your Mac model by going to the black arrow in the top left corner and selecting "About it". Poppy. This is the line below your version number, with size and year in parentheses. All this information is important to decide which Transcend to buy. I use mine for my photo library and make sure to back it up separately from the rest of my Mac as my backup drive isn't big enough to create both a computer and a card.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Not as good as it says
