Very good product. Relatively easy to install

Very good product. Installation was relatively easy. For a video guide on how to replace an old hub with a Volvo hub, go to https://carhacks.wordpress.com/2012/09/24/ford-freestyle-top-motor-mount-transaxle-roll-resistor-replacement -seit - 10 years / Use the same general approach to install a Dorman transmission support bushing. After removing the screw that goes through the bush, remove the anti-roll bar that is fixed in the bulkhead area (4 screws) and remove it. Use a hacksaw to cut the metal band around the old bushing (be careful not to cut through the bracket holding the bushing). Bend the metal strip inward and the old bushing will pop out. Install the Dorman hub (skip the areas of the video tutorial where you need to cut the rubber to install the Volvo hub). When I installed the new bushing, I found that even with the C-clamps, it was too tight to fit easily in the bracket. I cut the metal strap covering the new bushing and it snaps easily into place. The metal strip doesn't actually do anything other than contain a sleeve so it can be pushed into the mount with a press. Once you cut the tape, the press is no longer needed. Reinstall the anti-roll bar and replace the hub mounting bolt, done. I've had the bushing replaced for over a month with no problems. It certainly beats the retail price (currently $570 at the Ford dealership) and takes less than three hours (by their estimate). The dealer replaces the entire bracket with the bushing. To do this they have to remove the entire mount from the engine and transmission, and they say they have to raise the engine as well.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Poorly thought out
