Transmission Mount Bushing

This kit replaced a badly worn stabilizer bar bushing bracket and saved a few bucks over a new bracket. I would buy this product again and recommend it to all shade tree mechanics.

Save When DIY Good for Transmission Mounts

Great product Ford doesn't sell, they want to sell you a mount complete with bushing for $258. Aftermarket mounts are available for around $100. Buy this kit for $45 and remove the old one and put the new one in the existing mount with this kit, or have your local auto dealership with a press to do it for you. The tricky part of the job is removing and reinstalling the mount.

I installed them on my 2005 Mercury Montego. .

I installed these on my 2005 Mercury Montego. The original bushing wasn't completely worn out, but was definitely cracked and may need to be replaced. I used a Snap On BJP1 ball joint press to press out the old bushing and then press in the new bushing. I had to remove the intake manifold and throttle body, but didn't remove anything else to get the job done.

Dorman 917-037 transmission mount bushing

Stopped at a local Ford dealership and was informed that this transmission mount bushing was out of stock that I would have to buy the entire mount for $282 plus tax 2 hours assembly labor . This bushing came complete with mounting hardware and an alignment tool. As the instructions state, installation requires a 10,000 pound press to remove and install the bushing. Bought a Harbor Freight A-frame press for less than $60 and a transmission bushing for less than $60. It took me about 3 1/2 hours

Very good product. Relatively easy to install

Very good product. Installation was relatively easy. After removing the screw that goes through the bush, remove the anti-roll bar that is fixed in the bulkhead area (4 screws) and remove it. Use a hacksaw to cut the…

Removing the old bushing is the tricky part

Installed this on a 2006 Ford Freestyle today to replace a completely rotted original bushing that cannot be purchased from Ford without removing the entire 4th arm -fold the price to buy. rented a ball joint press (looks like a giant c-clip) to take the old part off and put the new one on. This rubber bushing has a steel bushing and the original part was so tight that the ball joint press couldn't remove it, so I carefully cut the steel bushing on the old part with a hacksaw (being careful not

Nice build, should be a press if you don't do what I did.

Bought this bushing for my 2005 Mercury Montego not realizing that the bushing can only be removed from the car with a press tool (which I don't have) and the only way to get this new bushing is with help too to use the press. The rings you see in the product image are for use with a press. With a little rigging you can (maybe) find a way to use it with a large C-clamp and remove/insert the sleeve properly. in my case such a method did not occur to me. For starters, the product I received…
