Installed this on a 2006 Ford Freestyle today to replace a completely rotted original bushing that cannot be purchased from Ford without removing the entire 4th arm -fold the price to buy. rented a ball joint press (looks like a giant c-clip) to take the old part off and put the new one on. This rubber bushing has a steel bushing and the original part was so tight that the ball joint press couldn't remove it, so I carefully cut the steel bushing on the old part with a hacksaw (being careful not to cut through the aluminum arm). and used a stout flat blade along with a hammerless hammer to pound it inward. In the end (after 3 hours of cutting, hammering and prying) I was able to easily knock the old part out. After that, I used sandpaper to erase the marks of my removal efforts and enlarged the hole slightly to make it easier to press the new part in. , I use SeaFoam Deep Creep). The ball joint press will not open far enough to insert the backup ring and collar into the jaws along with the bushing and lever. I used the adjusting ring from the bushing kit without the backup ring to push the hub in halfway until it was pushed in deep enough that I had enough play to install the backup ring. A ball joint press is not really suitable for this. but it allowed me to get the job done without removing the lever from the machine (I had to remove some other things like the battery cable and the air intake, but these are much easier to remove than the lever this thing pushes into) . ). The backup ring in the hub kit is so big that the ball joint pressure plates don't work (at least with the tool I had). I ended up using a piece of steel rod that I had to hold onto the bottom of the ball joint press with a support ring. I can't recommend my removal method (my hands still hurt from all the hammering), but it worked. work for me If that part fails again before we sell the car, I'll have a mechanic friend make me a replacement out of Delrin (a very hard plastic sometimes used for bushings). I don't look forward to ever having to replace this bushing again. -- Wilhelm
