Review on ๐Ÿงฅ Women's North Face Bionic Jacket - Clothing for Women in Coats, Jackets & Vests by Carrie Williams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well made, a little stiff, order larger if unsure.

Very well made softshell as you'd expect from North Face. It would be great for hiking, trekking or running in temperatures between 20 and 40 degrees Fahrenheit depending of course on how hot your body is and what you have under your jacket. The fleece lining is very soft. Overall, the jacket is a bit stiff due to the outer layer, but this makes it wind and water resistant. The water resistance is pretty good. I wouldn't wear it in pouring rain and wouldn't expect it to stay bone dry, but in a light rain or splash the liquid beaded up instantly. I found that the stiffness was only an issue when I pulled the zipper all the way up and then the collar hit my chin. People complained that the sleeves were long. Yes, they are a bit long. But that's on purpose. They are cut asymmetrically so the sleeve covers part or all of the arm, which makes sense considering you'll be wearing this jacket in cold or very cold weather. I think if you're wearing this jacket and have to do a lot of manual work it can be annoying, but other than that it's actually a nice feature. I found it difficult to find the right size for it. I'm 5'2", 125 lbs, athletic build (e.g. running/climbing), bra size 34A. According to the North Face sizing chart I should be small. Merino wool bottom layer with long sleeves, arms and shoulders were quite tight. My range of motion was somewhat restricted as if I couldn't fully stretch/hug forward. I highly doubt that I can tuck it under the fleece; the small size probably won't close if I try. The waist and hips were well adjusted but didn't hug the body like the arms and shoulders. If you're between sizes or just have a slightly roomier fit I would go up a size.
