Review on Libbey Impressions 80.1-Ounce Pitcher by Donald Phillips

Revainrating 2 out of 5

COLD ONLY - forget hot, don't even use WARM water

I went through several of these, the top of the handle starting to crack on all of them. The instructions that came with it say not to use "hot" water, so I called customer service to clarify (the temperature) what they mean by "hot". They say it's hot over 160F. I told them that I use warm tap water for iced tea - not boiling, but straight from the tap. The water heater is set at 130F but I don't even heat it all the way up. They confirmed that it should be good. NO. Still torn right at the top of the handle. Shame as I love everything else about this jug - the dimensions are great for efficiently storing a good batch in the fridge. If you can swear you're doing everything you can to avoid temperature changes for that pitcher (including warming it up to room temperature from the fridge before you even wash the damn thing), then go for it!

Pros
  • Lead-free and hand-blown in Mexico. Safely packed in shipping carton; Always wash before use as Libbey orders are shipped directly from the manufacturer's warehouse
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
