I first ordered the 6mm, which I’ve worn in stud form in my helix. However, the loop was a bit too snug around the outside of the ear. I sent it back for the 8mm with no issues returning. The hoop is super cute and stays in place…once you finally get it in. Getting it in really wasn’t difficult, but latching it proved to be more challenging. I ended up taking it out and practicing opening and closing several times before trying to insert again. I did find inserting from the back forward made it easier to manage the clasp. My ear was a little sore the next day from the length of time finagling with it the night before, but has had no irritation since. I have a lot of curly hair and have had no issues with snags.
