I used several thermometers on our chick nursery which had about 50 chicks. This is my favorite and I will be buying more next year. One end stays on the bottom of the incubator (where you want to take the temperature) and the other end is on top for easy reading. When I tested the other side of the incubator, he quickly registered. As soon as you move it, the temperature adjusts, so I can control the temperature in all parts of the incubator throughout the day. I know it's not designed for that kind of use, but I bought it anyway and I'm glad I did. Update: I just bought 2 more for my grow boxes, they are perfect for this use. Instead of sticking a thermometer in the bottom of an incubator where everything becomes poo and meanness, they make life so much easier. The one I bought last year still has a good battery!
