Bought in July 2016, in February 2018 after 6,000 hours my projector finally started complaining about the lamp life so I replaced it with this one. Installation was a bit tricky - you shouldn't touch any part of the lamp (not even the base or the contacts!) with your fingers to avoid oil contamination which would cause the lamp to fail prematurely. I was able to undo the screws on the retaining brackets and replace the lamp, using the bag that came with it as a buffer between my fingers and the lamp, and then reinstall it. The small screws on the bracket are finicky, but not too bad. Brightness has greatly improved over the old 6,000 hour bulb. While I didn't take any measurements I'm happy with the brightness of this bulb and won't wait 6,000 hours for my next bulb change - the difference was dramatic and daytime movie watching is much better. I'll update this review later if I find any errors, but I've had about 40 hours of projector use in it and it hasn't failed yet. This lamp is more expensive than others, so I buy another lamp + body from another seller on Amazon as a backup. Considering the original Viewsonic RLC-079 is $200, I think I'll stick with regular sub-$50 bulbs for now and see if I can find one that lasts. Once I have two cases I buy bare bulbs again and then the projector never shuts down for more than a few minutes if a bulb burns out and I can feel free to replace the bare bulb in the case. The peculiarity of this lightbulb and list is that it has been here unchanged for more than two years with negative and positive reviews. All of the other cheap pears are less than a year old and have no reviews, which makes me a lot more suspicious than a similar list with a few negative reviews. Therefore, I give 5 stars not only for the work, but also for the seller's willingness to buy their offer, despite the negative reviews. It would be nice to hear about better customer service, but I'll cross that bridge if I get to it myself.
