Review on 🚀 Herdio Waterproof Marine Antenna: Ultimate FM AM Boat Radio Car ATV UTV RZR SPA Solution by Tim Knoepfle

Wrong design, will not improve reception. Corrosive in the marine environment.

The basic design is poor but should work about the same as connecting a bare wire to a radio. In other words, don't buy, especially the black model. The black model has two painted parts of the joint. means no, or there is only a very weak FM signal going from the antenna to the radio (white model may vary). I've checked with a multimeter and there is no continuity unless you scrape off all the paint which is rusting the metal. The description says "Flexible Mast: 180 degree swivel base for maximum mobility, forward", the base doesn't rotate (unless you've tightened it all the way down) and the 180 degree bend at the connection point only works if you have a screwdriver. It also claims to be a dipole antenna, which I doubt. , but even if it is, the base isn't shielded, so pretty much negates the benefit a dipole would give you. The entire antenna is held together with a galvanized threaded rod and there are many places where water can get trapped and cause corrosion. communication is worse. There is NOTHING wrong with this antenna, stay away from it. The designers obviously have no experience in radio or electronics design. This applies to almost EVERY identical model that is sold on Amazon. Do yourself a favor and buy a better antenna design.

Pros
  • Material: rubber dipole, stainless steel nut, PPC line
Cons
  • Doubtful
