I really like the way it looks. We used this in my son's nursery to hang some of his baby cards and family pictures from babyhood. We hung two side by side vertically to allow the ropes to work out (you see photos of both ways of hanging the display on the box). The kit includes the hardware we need for hanging and a sheet to attach to the wall so you know where to drill the holes. We had more than enough cute little clothespins to hang everything up. I was worried they wouldn't hold up - but nothing has fallen down so far despite the fan working in the room all summer. Everyone who was in the children's room praised us for how beautiful it looks. Added bonus: My kid loves looking at the one hanging directly behind his seesaw when he's in the chair with me. I assume that with a slight movement of the card by the fan it will work like mobile. When he is older I will remove the baby postcards and replace them with other postcards, photographs or even his own art one day. I love how easy and quick it is to add something new. I would describe this display as an excellent value for money product. Even though it's no more than two pieces of wood with rope, Umbra did a great job of making it easy to hang and seems very strong. Of course you can make your own but for the price I don't think it would be worth the hassle. It's funny that the displays come with their own photo pack. So if for some reason you don't have enough pictures to fill the frame, you can use their stock photos. There are wedding photos, holiday photos, photos of strange children. I'm not joking. My husband and I had a good laugh as we flipped through the attached art.
