Review on πŸ’‘ Flexible Illuminating Light Kit by Josh Goldsmith

Revainrating 1 out of 5

No USB converter!

Updated: I'm reducing my rating from 3 stars to 1 star, the light doesn't come on after one use! I saw a few warnings in the reviews but thought I'd take a chance as the last product I bought when this product was first launched is amazing and has stood the test of time all these years . Something happened to the quality of this product, shame I have to go back to Revain. I bought my first bright light at a quilt fair at least ten years ago and it still works, the only thing I had to change was the glue (a spare came with my model). This newer model has a more protective coating around the cord, but unfortunately it's now designed to plug into a computing device rather than a regular outlet. Mine arrived without the converter shown in the photo, so it cannot be wall plugged. (I'm waiting for a response from the seller to see if they ship the missing part.) So far so good, I'm really hoping it doesn't fail in a few months as others have mentioned. It really only illuminates the area of the needle that my particular machine really needs because the built in lights are very dim. You still need work lights on the front and back of your car to illuminate the back and front neck space (at least in my case) even in a well-lit room. (I use very affordable flexible lamps from Ikea which actually work and are a lot cheaper than Ott Lights which have deteriorated over the years and are still a lot more expensive.) Use small adhesive hooks, remember to break them, so you can position each so that the hooks are vertical (they are sold in a strip where the hooks are horizontal, which doesn't work).

Pros
  • This is great
Cons
  • Some bugs
