I bought this to keep my 55 lb husky from chasing cats when I'm sleeping or away from home. So far holding him in place (which he really hates and turns into hysterical barking and screaming) has been great! Upon arrival I didn't think the small door would be big enough for my large cat (18lbs fat and muscle) to get through and was pleasantly shocked that she was able to get through easily! I prefer the taller gates because I have a hard time leaning forward when speaking and having them at waist level helps a lot and also deters the huskies from trying to jump over the gate.
