Bluetooth speakers have become so popular. However, it's nice to see a device that gives you the option of simply plugging it in. Sometimes you just don't want or need to pair it with another device. That's why I chose this column. I often use my computer to stream webcasts. I love hearing them as I walk around our apartment, cleaning up after the kids, putting away the laundry, preparing meals. Even at the highest setting, my computer's speaker is not loud enough. I constantly have to take it to different places, which becomes a problem especially when charging (and/or charging my phone via USB). This speaker is the perfect solution for me. It's sleek and compact (about the size of three Note 4s stacked on top of each other) - no power outlet required. It includes both a USB cable and an audio jack to connect to my computer. Once connected, you will see a small red light glowing inside the device. After pressing the power button (top left of the device), you'll know it's on when the light turns purple. Then, if the speaker is left idle while connected to a computer (with no sound passing through it), it will automatically turn off after a while. The sound is very clear and crisp whether I'm listening to music, a news program or an audio book. While it's not the loudest speaker I've come across, it's loud enough to satisfy my needs.
